À la Fédération des municipalités du Nord de l’Ontario (FMNO), on se réjouit de ce que le gouvernement provincial a annoncé, le 30 janvier 2017, le renouvellement du Programme de développement économique des collectivités rurales de l’Ontario (DECOR).

February 1, 2017 – Kapuskasing, ON- The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) attended the Rural Ontario Municipal Association (ROMA) Conference, which was held as a standalone conference, the first in many years, on January 29-31, 2017 in Toronto.

Cette conférence, présentée de façon autonome pour la première depuis des années, a eu lieu à Toronto du 29 au 31 janvier 2017.

Les membres du conseil d’administration, réunis à North Bay le 12 janvier courant, ont discuté en profondeur de ce dossier.

January 17, 2017 – Kapuskasing, ON- The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) Board of Directors’ travelled to the City of North Bay for the regular meeting of the Board which was held on January 12, 2017 at Nipissing University.

January 17, 2017 – Kapuskasing, ON- The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) continues to be concerned about the impacts of energy costs on the Northern Ontario economy. The issue was heavily discussed at the recent meeting of the Board of Directors’ on January 12, 2017 in North Bay. Whether it be high and volatile fuel prices, the soaring costs on electricity bills or increased natural gas bills as a result of the cap and trade program that took effect on January 1, 2017, energy costs continue to be one of the most pressing issues to municipalities. FONOM currently receives more municipal resolutions with respect to energy than any other issue.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) travelled to the City of Greater Sudbury for the regular meeting of the Board of Directors which was held on October 7, 2016 at the Holiday Inn.

À la Fédération des municipalités du Nord de l’Ontario (FMNO), on est heureux que le discours du Trône présenté hier, à Queen’s Park, par Mme Elizabeth Dowdeswell, lieutenante-gouverneure de l’Ontario, ait porté sur le besoin de réduire les coûts énergétiques.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is pleased that the Throne Speech, which was delivered by Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell at Queen’s Park yesterday focused on the need to reduce energy costs.

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference just finished, and members of the FONOM board were pleased to participate over the three-day event. It was an opportunity for us to share and learn with our municipal colleagues from across the province.

La Fédération des municipalités du Nord de l’Ontario (FMNO) est encouragée du fait que, le 16 juin 2016, l’Office national de l’énergie (ONE) a déterminé que les demandes pour le projet Énergie Est de TransCanada sont maintenant complètes. On entamera maintenant un processus de révision d’une durée de 21 mois avant de soumettre le projet au gouvernement fédéral qui rendra sa décision finale.
