FONOM issues raised at 2019 AMO Conference
This past August, FONOM was well represented at the AMO Conference in Ottawa and meetings were held with several Provincial Cabinet Ministers. The following is a summary of the issues raised on behalf of northeastern municipalities and the recommendations provided to Provincial representatives.
FONOM Pleased With Announcement of Proposed Changes to the Ontario Building Code
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is pleased with the Government of Ontario’s recent announcement that it will move forward with the proposed changes to the Ontario Building Code to allow for wood frame building structures up to six storeys.
Greenpeace Defenders Highlight Dangers of Bill 83
While the Ontario Government hopes Bill 83 will protect the ability of the public to participate in matters of public interest, the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) knows activists will use it to amplify their baseless attacks on the forestry sector and cause permanent damage to the northern economy.
