Danny Whalen, Past President

I was first elected to the municipal council in 1990. I have served in both a Councillor and Reeve capacity over the years.

I was elected to the first Council for the amalgamated City of Temiskaming Shores in 2004.

I became a Director for the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities in 2011 and moved to an executive capacity in 2012.

I had the honour of serving as President of the Federation from 2018 to October 2025.

In my capacity as president of the Federation, I also have the pleasure of sitting on the Executive for the Association of Municipalities of Ontario.

It is a true honour to represent the residents of northeastern Ontario at the municipal, provincial, and federal levels and act on behalf of our FONOM Board of Directors.
