FONOM to Tell Ontarians the ‘Boreal Matters’
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities is preparing to launch a campaign designed to bring residents from across Ontario into a conversation about the importance of Ontario’s boreal forest to northern communities, Ontario’s economy and the environment. FONOM’s efforts come on the heels of another announcement from the eNGO community that threatens the work of the historical Canadian Boreal Forest Agreement.
ONTC Divestment Will Hurt Communication in Northern Ontario
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is once again calling on the Wynne government to halt the divestment of the ONTC. FONOM is increasingly concerned that while the Wynne government is prepared to engage in a dialogue, no commitment to pausing the process during that dialogue has been made.

Aujourd’hui, des délégués de la Fédération des municipalités du Nord de l’Ontario (FMNO) ont présenté au Comité permanent de la justice de l’Ontario une demande visant à faire modifier le projet de loi 52, celui de la Loi de 2015 sur la protection du droit à la participation aux affaires publiques. Dans le but d’appuyer les industries du Nord de l’Ontario, ces délégués demandent que deux recommandations accompagnent la législation.
FONOM Presents to Standing Committee on Justice Policy
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) presented to the Ontario Standing Committee on Justice Policy at Queen’s Park today to request Bill 52, Protection of Public Participation Act be amended. FONOM is requesting two recommendations to the legislation to support Northern Ontario industries.
