Residency Positions Increase in Northern Ontario
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is pleased that the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care (MOHLTC) has confirmed an increase of five of residency positions in Northern Ontario for 2016.
FONOM Pleased with Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund Announcement
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) applauds the recent Provincial announcement of a permanent Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). This $100 million annual fund will assist municipalities that have a population of 100,000 or less, have more than 25 per cent rural residents or are located in northern Ontario.

La Fédération des municipalités du Nord de l’Ontario (FONOM) applaudit la récente annonce du gouvernement provincial au sujet de la mise en place d’un Fonds ontarien pour l’infrastructure communautaire. Ce financement de 100 millions de dollars par an viendra en aide aux municipalités de petite taille, c’est-à-dire qui comptent 100 000 habitants ou moins, à celles dont plus de 25 % habitent en région rurale et à celles qui sont situées dans le Nord.

The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) attended the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference in London, Ontario from August 17th-20th.

La Fédération des municipalités du Nord de l’Ontario (FMNO) est encouragée du fait que, le 16 juin 2016, l’Office national de l’énergie (ONE) a déterminé que les demandes pour le projet Énergie Est de TransCanada sont maintenant complètes. On entamera maintenant un processus de révision d’une durée de 21 mois avant de soumettre le projet au gouvernement fédéral qui rendra sa décision finale.
FONOM Encouraged TransCanada’s Energy East Project Has Reached New Milestone
The Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is encouraged that on June 16, 2016, the National Energy Board (NEB) determined that TransCanada’s Energy East project applications are complete and it will now enter a 21 month review process before it goes to the Federal Government for a final decision.
