The Board of Directors’ of the Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) was hosted by the House of Kin at their facilities on March 23, 2017 in the City of Greater Sudbury.

The House of Kin is celebrating its twentieth anniversary of operating from the 1889 Regent Street location as a not for profit registered charity, providing low cost accommodations to individuals and families travelling to Greater Sudbury for specialized medical care.

FONOM was given a tour of the facility and accommodations by staff, Board members along with the organization’s founder, Chris Sheridan. FONOM was provided information on their organization, accommodations and discussed future services that they could offer as the nature of healthcare delivery continues to evolve.

“It was a great opportunity to visit the House of Kin and see the upgrades that they have made to their accommodations. It provides a great service as a home away from home for residents across northeastern Ontario in their time of need who need to travel to Sudbury for medical care,” says Mayor Alan Spacek of Kapuskasing and President of FONOM.
